Privacy Policy
QuickReadMac is built so that there is almost nothing to write here. This policy describes exactly what happens to your data.
What never leaves your Mac
Your text and documents. Text you select, PDFs, Word files, ePubs and Markdown you open, the reading history and the reading statistics are all processed and stored locally on your Mac, using Apple's own frameworks (PDFKit, AppKit, AVFoundation, Natural Language). They are never uploaded, never transmitted, and never seen by us or by anyone else. There is no cloud sync, no account, and no telemetry or analytics inside the app.
The only network requests the app makes
- Update checks. The app periodically fetches
https://quickreadmac.com/appcast.xmlto see whether a newer version exists. This is a plain file request; it reveals your IP address to our host (Vercel), as any web request would, and nothing else. - Licence activation. When you enter a licence key, the app sends that key, a hardware identifier for your Mac (so we can enforce the device limit you paid for) and your Mac's name (so you can recognise it in your purchase portal) to
https://quickreadmac.com/api/license/activate, which validates it with our payment provider, Polar. Nothing else is sent, and nothing is sent at all until you type a key.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Polar, which acts as merchant of record. Your name, email and payment details are given to Polar, not to us; we can see your email address and which licence you bought, so that we can support you. We never see your card details. Polar's privacy policy governs that data.
Website
This website uses Vercel Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of you. It does not track you across other websites.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you (realistically: an email address and a licence key), ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to 1anfibi@gmail.com and we will answer.
